2008 Spring Troop Program

It's time to sign up for Spring Troop and Riding Programs!

All sessions are one hour in length. Riders must arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled start time.

PEP (Petite Equestrians)
Aged 3-6 years
Skills learned: Safety, grooming, posture, reigns. Focus is on how to act around a pony or small horse vs. riding. All children will receive at least 1-2 rides on a lead line during the session. Proper footware and helmets are required. Click here for the PEP registration form.

Level 1: Beginner
Skills learned: Posture, walking, trotting, diagonals. This level is for students who have never ridden before or who have ridden less than 10x in the past year.

Level 2: Intermediate Beginner
Skills learned: Sitting trot, posting trot without stirrups, introduced to canter, learns canter leads, and how to ask for the canter. Introduced to saddling the horse.

Level 3: Intermediate I
Skills learned: Posting trot and canter without stirrups, practices canter leads, correctly asks for canter leads, jump small cross rails. Saddling the horse and introduced to the bit.

Level 4: Intermediate II
Skills learned: Perfected walk/trot/canter, dressage basics, jump small verticals, introduction to shows at SHS or, possibly, elsewhere. Saddling the horse including the bit.

Level 5: Advanced
Skills learned: Cross country, dressage, jumping, and shows. May do off-site trail riding. Most advanced level with emphasis on technique and showing.
